Tummy time is a fun time that you or daddy or both of you can spend with your baby to support growth and development.
Tummy Time is the time of day while your baby is awake that your baby needs to be on his or her stomach for 5-10 minutes. It is an activity or exercise that is important for the development of motor, visual, and sensory development. Your baby must be supervised during Tummy Time. Start with about 1-2 minutes at first and build up to 20 minutes overtime until your baby makes one year old.
Skin to skin has been shown to be beneficial to mother, daddy, and baby. You and daddy take turns bearing your chest and placing your baby next to your skin. Be sure to take everything off baby except for the diaper. Skin to skin develops your baby’s emotional and social development. Using skin to skin daily will help your baby sleep, digest nutrients, improve brain development, and improve immunity. It will help mom prevent post pardon and could help mother’s vaginal bleeding resolve earlier after delivery.
